Good flies, quick delivery

I ordered a selection of their gold head nymphs and some barbless dry flies for an upcoming trip. The website was easy enough to navigate, though a few more close-up photos of the individual flies would be helpful. My order shipped pretty fast, took only about 4 days to reach me in Nevada. The flies themselves seem well-tied and durable for the price. I especially liked the variety pack of barbless flies; it gave me a good selection without having to buy too many of one pattern. Overall, a solid experience and I'd consider them again for future fly purchases.

Amazing waders!

I got the chest waders and they are absolutely fantastic! Super comfortable and kept me completely dry during my last fishing trip. The quality is top-notch, feels really durable. I'm so happy with this purchase. Will definitely be getting more gear from them in the future!

What flies should I grab for river trout right now?

D DryFlyDave 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Can't go wrong with some Klinkhammers and a few Gold Head Nymphs. Always reliable.

Gold heads for sure, especially if the water's up a bit.

H HatchHunter 1 month ago
Depends what's hatching. But a few Pheasant Tails and some Adams are usually safe bets.

What are some 'must-have' nymphs for stillwater rainbow trout?

L LakeLover 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Gold Head Damsels, Buzzers (black and olive), and some Bloodworm patterns. Always have those in my box.

W WormWrangler 2 weeks ago
Spot on. Don't forget a few squirmy wormies too if they're on.

Buzzers are essential. Different colours and sizes.

Pheasant Tail Nymphs are surprisingly effective on stillwaters sometimes too.

Best budget wading boots?

W WaderWearer 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I got a pair of their own brand ones in a sale and they've lasted me a couple of seasons. Not fancy but do the job.

B BargainHunter 3 weeks ago
Keep an eye on the clearance section for those.

Are the fly fishing kits good for a complete beginner?

K KitUserChris 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Yeah, they're decent for getting started. Rod, reel, line, even some flies. Takes the guesswork out.

L LearnerLure 2 weeks ago
My first setup was one of those. Served me well.

A AdvancedAngler 2 weeks ago
Depends what kind of fishing you want to do eventually. But for just trying it out, they're fine.

Are the barbless flies from Troutflies UK actually good quality?

B BarblessBen 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Yeah, I've had no issues. They hold up just as well as their barbed ones.
6
C CatchAndReleaseCarl 1 month ago
Same here. Been using their barbless for years.
4
F FlySnob 1 month ago
They're hand-tied so quality is generally good across the board. Barbless or not.

H HookedOnFlies 1 month ago
True, the hand-tied part makes a difference.

Thinking of getting into fly tying. What's a good starter kit from Troutflies UK?

T TyingTim 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
They don't have 'kits' per se, but you can build one. Grab a basic vice, some black and olive thread, a few packs of hooks (like size 12-16 dry fly hooks), some dubbing in natural colours, and a small pack of marabou. That'll get you started on a lot of patterns.

M MaterialMan 1 month ago
Yeah, their bulk fly tying material discount helps if you buy a few things.

B BobTheBinder 1 month ago
This is solid advice. Don't go too crazy on materials at first.
8
Q QuickTie 1 month ago
Just buy a cheap vice and some basic tools. You can get materials later.

Hey, wondering how long delivery usually takes to, like, Manchester? Need some new nymphs for a trip next week.

C Cody J. 3 months ago
Mine usually show up in a couple of days, max 3. I'm in Liverpool so pretty close.

S Sarah L. 2 months ago
Yeah, I've had stuff delivered to Leeds from them pretty fast. I think they dispatch quick. You should be good for next week if you order soon.
